Cedric Maxwell began his career in Kinston High School. Then in college, he played for University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball team. During his stint together with the team, they reached the NCAA Final Four. Cedric averaged 20.0 points per game and 12.1 rebounds per game. Cedric entered the 1977 NBA Draft and was selected as the initial round, 12th overall pick by the Boston Celtics. Maxwell spent 8 seasons together with the team and won the NBA Finals MVP in 1981. Maxwell’s stint from the Clippers cut short for a season plus a half, and moved to Houston Rockets in 1987. He retired from NBA following the 1987-1988 season. Cedric Bryan Maxwell was born on November 21, 1955 in Kinston, North Carolina. Although Maxwell retired from playing basketball, he did not missed out activities on NBA. Maxwell worked as a Celtics radio color commentator for WEEI AM in Boston since 1995.
