Paul Kariya started his career when he joined the British Columbia Junior Hockey League Junior A’s Penticton Panthers. He recorded 45 goals and 112 points in the 54 games he appeared in during the first season. Kariya ended the season participating in 12 games with eight goals and 24 points. He entered the NHL Entry Draft in 1993 and was chosen as the 4th overall pick by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. During Kariya’s stint with all the Ducks, he received the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 1996 and 1997. After his succesful stay with all the team, he became an unrestricted free agent and transferred to Colorado Avalanche. Other teams that Kariya played with comprise Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues. Kariya declared his retirement on June 29, 2011.
