He was born Wycliffe K. Grousbeck on June 13, 1961. He rowed with the undefeated lightweight crew team in 1983 that claimed the Ivy League and national rowing championships. He later earned a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1986 and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1992. Grousbeck started his professional career with Highland Capital Partners and spent seven years as a partner in the venture capital firm. Then he founded the group Boston Basketball Partners LLC along with his father H. Irving Grousbeck. In 2002, the group purchased the Boston Celtics for $360 million. By 2008, he led the organization to their seventh NBA Championship. In 2010, Wycliffe Grousbeck became Chairman of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, the planet ‘s biggest research and clinical hospital specializing in blindness and deafness research. Grousbeck still continues his obligations with the Celtics. Grousbeck was the co-founded of Causeway Media Partners, a $100 million investment fund focusing on sports media enterprises in 2013.
